Compact pneumatic vise grip with openings up to 52 mm
The UGC-PG-100 is a simple U-form pneumatic vise grip for universal low-force tensile testing of films and foils, rubber, paper and labels, and small parts. A single 50 mm pneumatic rod closes the jaw with 1.2 kN (270 lbf) at 7 bar (102 psi), good for roughly 600 N (135 lbf) of tensile force. Raise the supply to 16 bar (232 psi) and clamping goes to 2.5 kN (562 lbf).
Four body sizes
What sets this grip apart is the choice of opening. The same rod and clamping force come in four body sizes, so you can match the grip to the thickest part you test rather than carrying extra weight on the load cell:
0–10 mm: 0.4 kg per grip (0.6 kg with two rods)
0–20 mm: 0.5 kg (0.7 kg with two rods)
0–30 mm: 0.54 kg (0.74 kg with two rods)
0–52 mm: 0.8 kg (1 kg with two rods)
The single-rod grip is the lightest option; two-rod versions add clamping stability. The body is anodized aluminum and the jaws are nickel-plated steel. Air connects through an M5 internal thread, and the coupling is a female clevis for a 15.9 mm (5/8 in) or 20 mm pin, with others on request. Standard temperature range is 0 to 70 °C.
Jaws
For strip and film testing, line-contact jaws with a 3 mm radius and a 30 x 30 mm face clamp against rubber counter jaws, concentrating the grip along a single line. Insert jaw carriers accept 30 x 50 mm and 30 x 100 mm quick-change inserts, so surfaces can be swapped as materials change. Grips are supplied without jaws.
Typical applications
Films and foils, rubber and elastomers, paper and labels, and small components. The grip suits specimens for tests such as ASTM D882 and ISO 527-3 on thin plastics, and ASTM D412 rubber specimens within its 600 N range.
How it compares
Universal Grip's UGC-PG-120 small universal pneumatic grip also uses a 50 mm piston and 1.2 kN clamping, but it closes against a manually adjustable counter jaw and opens 0–10 mm. Choose the PG-100 when you need openings of 20, 30 or 52 mm, or the lightest single-rod body. For the frame, a Mark-10 F-series motorized tester such as the 300 lbF tensile tester, or a 2.5 kN Galdabini benchtop testing machine, covers its working range. Foot pedals and micro hand switches with M5 fittings are on the pneumatic grip accessories page.

Pneumatic Grip 1.2 kN Single Rod FAQ
Which body size should I choose?
Pick the smallest opening that clears your thickest specimen: 10, 20, 30 or 52 mm. Smaller bodies are lighter, starting at 0.4 kg per grip for the 0–10 mm single-rod version.
What tensile load can it hold?
About 600 N (135 lbf) at 7 bar with 1.2 kN of clamping force. Clamping rises to 2.5 kN at 16 bar.
What does single rod mean?
The grip uses one 50 mm pneumatic rod to close the jaw. Two-rod versions are available in every opening size for more clamping stability.
What jaws are available?
Line-contact jaws with a 3 mm radius and rubber counter jaws for strip and film, and carriers for 30 x 50 and 30 x 100 mm quick-change insert jaws.
How does it differ from the UGC-PG-120?
Both use a 50 mm piston with 1.2 kN clamping. The PG-120 has a manually adjustable counter jaw and a 0–10 mm opening; the PG-100 offers four body sizes up to 52 mm.
What coupling and air connection does it use?
A female clevis for a 15.9 mm (5/8 in) or 20 mm pin, and an M5 air connection. Adapters cover other machine couplings.
