Lightweight 1.2 kN pneumatic grips for thin specimens

The UGC-PG-150 grips are built for low-force tensile testing of thin materials: plastic films and foils, paper and labels, textiles and thin fibers, and packaging materials. One or two pneumatic rods close the jaws with 1.2 kN of clamping force (about 270 lbf), so specimens load quickly and are held the same way each time.

Light enough for small load cells

Each grip weighs 0.56 kg including jaws. The anodized aluminum body keeps that figure low and resists corrosion. Low grip mass matters on small load cells, where the weight of the upper grip uses up part of the measuring range. The 0–5 mm jaw opening is matched to thin specimens rather than thick laminates.

Quick-change insert jaws

The grips are supplied as a pair with carriers for quick-change insert jaws. Insert jaw faces are ordered separately and swap without tools when you move between materials. Tell us what you test and we will recommend the faces.

Connections and machine fit

The coupling is a female clevis for a Ø 15.9 mm (5/8 in) or Ø 20 mm pin, with other couplings and adapters on request. Air connects through an M5 port, and the temperature range is 0 to +70 °C, other ranges on request. The grips suit low-force machines such as Mark-10 F-series motorized tensile testers and the Galdabini 2.5 kN benchtop UTM; foot pedals and hand switches are on the pneumatic grip accessories page.

Compared with our UGC-PG-120, these grips are lighter, open only to 5 mm and use insert jaws on carriers rather than solid jaws. Send us your specimen, coupling and air supply to request a quote.

Pneumatic Grips with 1 or 2 Rods 1.2 kN FAQ

What clamping force do the UGC-PG-150 grips provide?

1.2 kN of pneumatic clamping force. We confirm the supply pressure for your configuration with the quote.

Are jaws included?

The pair ships with carriers for quick-change insert jaws; the insert jaw faces themselves are ordered separately.

What is the maximum specimen thickness?

The jaw opening is 0–5 mm.

Should I choose one rod or two?

Both versions are rated 1.2 kN. Tell us your specimen and test and we will recommend one.

How do these differ from the UGC-PG-120?

The PG-150 weighs 0.56 kg per grip with jaws, opens 0–5 mm and uses insert jaws on carriers. The PG-120 opens 0–10 mm, weighs 1.02–1.42 kg per grip without jaws and takes solid or insert jaws.
