High clamping force from a large-bore piston
Some flat specimens need a lot of clamping force to stop them slipping: coated fabrics with a slick surface, thick rubber sheet, heavy webbing. The UGC-PG-210 gets that force directly from piston area. A Ø 156 mm piston drives one jaw against a fixed counter jaw and develops 11 kN of clamping force at 7 bar, which is about 2,470 lbf at roughly 102 psi, while keeping fast pneumatic operation.
How the asymmetric design works
Only one jaw moves. The counter jaw is fixed and acts as a reference face, so the specimen surface always sits against the same plane. The jaws are hardened steel at 58 HRC with a 60 x 100 mm clamping surface, and the opening is 0–30 mm (about 1.2 in), enough for thick and flexible specimens. The body is anodized aluminum and weighs 3.6 kg (about 7.9 lb) per grip without jaws. Air connects through a 1/8 in internal thread.
Jaw faces
Pyramid jaws, 60 x 100 mm: 1.2 x 45° pyramids, opening 0–30 mm
Wave jaws, 60 x 100 mm: 5 mm wave for flexible materials, opening 0–30 mm
Jaws are ordered separately, and the grip itself can be ordered as a pair or as a single grip.
Symmetric or asymmetric?
Our UGC-PG-190 closes both jaws symmetrically about the test axis and suits specimens up to 60 mm thick with 3.5 kN clamping at 7 bar. The UGC-PG-210 trades that self-centering for much higher clamping force at the same pressure and a 0–30 mm opening. Where thickness varies widely, centering matters most; where specimens slip, clamping force matters most. Send us a sample description and we will advise.
Applications and machine fit
Typical specimens are textiles and webbing, rubber and elastomer sheet, plastic sheet and film laminates, and coated fabrics. The 11 kN figure is clamping force; the maximum tensile load is not specified separately, so tell us your expected break force. The coupling is a female clevis for a Ø 15.9 mm (5/8 in) pin, with adapters for other machines. The grip suits Galdabini 10 kN and 25 kN benchtop universal testing machines. Temperature range is 0 to +70 °C, other ranges on request. Foot pedals and hand switches are on the pneumatic grip accessories page, and a compressor can be quoted with the grips.
Tell us the specimen, machine coupling and air supply, and we will configure the grips. Request a quote.

Asymmetric Pneumatic Grip 11 kN FAQ
What does "asymmetric" mean here?
Only one jaw moves; it is driven by the Ø 156 mm piston against a fixed counter jaw that acts as a reference face.
Is 11 kN the maximum tensile load?
No, 11 kN is the clamping force at 7 bar. The maximum tensile load is not specified separately, so send us your expected break force.
What jaw opening does it have?
0–30 mm with both the pyramid and the wave jaws.
Can I buy a single grip?
Yes, the UGC-PG-210 is available as a pair or as a single grip.
How does it compare with the UGC-PG-190?
The PG-190 closes symmetrically, takes specimens up to 60 mm thick and clamps with 3.5 kN at 7 bar. The PG-210 has one moving jaw, a 0–30 mm opening and 11 kN clamping at 7 bar.
Will it fit my machine?
The coupling is a female clevis for a Ø 15.9 mm (5/8 in) pin; adapters are available for other connections.
